In 2011 the A Grade finished 3rd under new A Grade Coach Ryan Struck losing the preliminary final in over time to Centrals. Although our season never really reached the great heights, the preliminary final game itself was a highlight for the 2011 season & maybe the best game of the year. The club won the Ken Jeffrey Award as best performed club.

• The season was eagerly anticipated due largely to the relocation of the Club to the Central Oval.
• After an injury plagued year South’s make the finals but lose to West Augusta in the 1st semi final by 22 points.
• B Grade defeat season undefeated Lions to win the premiership in a great match that made the club proud.
• Trent Ritter, Harry Holland, Challan Stuart, Dareyan Solomon, Aziel Stuart and Dylan Barnett were picked in the SGL team to play against Whyalla.
• Michael Kerin won the Club Person of the year for his dedicated work on the football committee over the years.

• A Grade won grand final against West Augusta.

• U18’s team, coached by Craig Ritter did missed out on the finals, although several U18 players were pulled up to play A Grade. Although a young side, the team did well to compete as they did and the credit goes to Ritts for coaching these young men who are the future of our club. Ritts decided not not to continue coaching after 21 years involved in the club’s junior coaching program. This is a fantastic effort by the well deserved Life Member, mentor and coach to many junior footballers who have continued on to higher levels, winning premierships and some even representing the SANFL and AFL.

2020
The season was affected greatly by COVID-19 and without the volunteers the SGL / PACFL seasons would not have happened.
After an interrupted pre-season, 2020 got underway without premiership players Greg Shirley and Aziel Stuart. On the plus side, the return of premiership player Billy-Jo Russell, plus the continued development of our juniors, balanced our losses. COVID-19 permits added Lawrence Bradley-Brown, Cameron Faulkner, Craig Miller and Lachlan Elliot to our playing group.
· Both the A Grade and B Grade finished minor Premiers at the end of the shortened ten round season.
· The A Grade won its 18th Premiership and its 13th SGL Premiership since the Club’s inception in
1912, defeating Lions in the Grand Final.
· This win made it five Premierships in a row for the first time in the Club’s history. Since the SGL
commenced in 1961, South Augusta and Ports have won 13 Premierships, West
Augusta 12, Central Augusta 7, Solomontown 4, and PropRisdon 2.
· The individual highlight of 2020 was Kriston Thompson winning the Transcontinental Medal.
However, the team highlights would have to be the A Grade and B Grade winning
both grades for the first time since 2018 and prior to that in 1981, almost 40
years ago.

2021
Position 3rd
The A Grade finished third after losing the Preliminary final against the Lions after a huge tussle with Sollies in the first semi-final losing by 4 points and a convincing loss to Lions by 50 points in the Preliminary Final. With only 10 players from last year’s Premiership playing in the Preliminary this year it was always going to be hard to get there when it mattered but we were not far off the mark.
Kriston Thompson finishes in the top 5 players in the Madigan Medal count and Brett Jones who once again polled well in the B Grade Medal voting. South Augusta finished third in the total number of votes ladder for the A Grade
A Grade players who made the SGL team of the year include Kriston Thompson, Caleb Ritter, Craig Shirley and Aziel Stuart. All players were presented with an engraved glass mug from the SGL at the club after the last game.
South having 4 players in the Northern Zone team playing the Country Championships Ethan Reid, Billy-Jo Russell, Caleb Ritter and Kriston Thompson. Kriston selected in team of the Carnival. Under 13s winning the Premiership this year
· After a pre-season movement of players into and out of the club the 2021 season got underway without: Lionel Brown, Lawrence Bradley Brown, Kareem Aitken, Stuart Beaton, William Bolitho, Corey Cuffe, Matt Downey, Lachie Elliott, Cam Faulkner, Josh Forrest, Kahran McKenzie, Clayton Milera, Craig Miller, Cassius Stuart, Ben Trewartha, Jarryd Warren. New players this year from recruiting or juniors who played their first senior games include James Weir, Elijah Highfold, Jamahl McKenzie plus several junior players made their debuts. 69 players were used in A and B Grade in 2021 season.
Kriston Thompson capped off another good year on the field by winning his 3rd consecutive South Augusta Fairest and Best Kittel Cup in front of a large crowd at the presentation night last Saturday.
Kriston won from runner-up and Best Team Man Caleb Ritter with the other trophies in the A Grade being awarded to Craig Shirley,
Stefan Horner, Darcy Kildea, Ethan Reid, Lenny Hoffman for Best first year player, and Jaylon Wingfield and Aziel Stuart for the Coaches award.
In the B grade, the Best and Fairest Waterworth Cup was won by Mitchell French with runner-up going to Dylan Barnett. Others to win
trophies in the B Grade include Ethan Gade, Will Waterworth, Flynn Everett, Jack Magarey, Marcus Kerin and Jake Westwood.
In the Under 18s, the Rod Lamshed Memorial Best and Fairest trophy was won by Micheal Collins and runner-up Rex Waterworth with
other trophies going to Jesse McPherson, Dalton Gade, Lenny Hoffman, Hudson Brazell, Harry Bolitho, Tyson Darley and Sam Chamberlain. William Newberry won the Shillabeer goal kicking trophy at the club.
The Chambers family club person of the year award went to Judith Barnett for her services to the club and presentations were
awarded to the trainers Jacqui Ritter and Nicole McInnis. The Patron’s trophy was awarded to player Caleb Ritter for his contribution to the club off the field in 2021.
Life memberships were awarded to Sue Magarey, Jenny Grantham and Jim Maule for their long service as volunteers, having served the club over many years.

2022 SEASON
Position 3rd
The A Grade finished third after losing the Preliminary Final against Sollies, who eventually went on to win the Premiership against Lions in the Grand Final.
Named in Best Players the most times in A Grade: Kriston Thompson 16 times; Caleb Ritter 11; Aziel Stuart, Cameron Tiggemann and Billy-Jo Russell 6 times.
In the Madigan Medal, Corey Davey from Sollies won the award with 22 votes and Kriston Thompson had 16 votes, to finish fifth in the voting. Next best for Souths were Darcy Kildea and Aziel Stuart with 8 votes.

Pre-season 2022 got underway without premiership players Daniel Glass, Vinny Urbancic, Marcus Kerin and Marcus Gill. On the plus side, Clayton Milera, Kahran McKenzie, Cassius Stuart and Kareem Aitken all returned to us. New recruits included Mitch Bunworth and Cameron Tiggemann. Some of our younger players including Jakeem Cox, Tyson Darley, Patrick Fisher, Ethan Gade, Eddie Hannes, Lenny Hoffmann, Connor McMillan, Rex Waterworth and Lionel Jackson got some valuable A Grade experience. Overall, 35 players played A Grade, a staggering 54 played B Grade, 36 played U18 and 25 played U15 games in 2022.

2023 SEASON
Position 6th
The A Grade finished 6th for the season but finished the year off well after the last pleasing month of football including three A Grade wins against Central, West and Port and a very competitive effort against Solomontown.
After a pre-season movement of players into and out of the club the 2023 season got underway without Billy- Jo Russell, Kahran McKenzie, James Weir, Jak Kerin, Jamhal McKenzie, Jaylon Wingfield, Elijah Highfold, Dylan Barnett, Stefan Horner, Brett Jones, Jack Magarey and Mitchell Bunworth. Casey Amos and David Schooling were amongst the small numbers of recruits the club was able to bring in to replace these A grade players.
Highlights for the 2023 year include: South Augusta wins 2023 Australia Day Community event award
· Player Milestones including Aziel Stuart and Jake Westwood 100 club games and Caleb Ritter 150 club games. Caleb Ritter made the SGL team of the year
· Caleb Ritter, Cameron Tiggemann, Darcy Kildea, Aziel Stuart , Casey Amos and Patrick Kennedy made the training squad for the SGL Match against Whyalla. Darcy Kildea, Aziel Stuart, and Caleb Ritter all played
· Ex South Augusta junior and St Kilda draft pick Isaac Keeler having a good start up year with Sandringham and Connor Rozee selected as All Australian
for the second year in a row
· Over 380 members for the club in 2023
· Successful events including the Hall of Fame dinner, Mid-Summer Night Ball, Jodi Lee Foundation dinner, Family Day and Red and White Ball , plus catering for the Naidoc Balls.

2024 SEASON
After a different look & feel for preseason, unfortunately we kicked off 2024 with a big loss to Lions who went on to win the premiership against Sollies this season. Our first win came against Centrals in Round 2 and a close loss to Westies followed on ANZAC Day. Our next block of games showed mixed results as we
played good footy for three quarters but failed to put up a real fight in the last quarter far too often. We ticked off another win the second time we played against Westies and our third & last win of the season came in Round 17 against Centrals at ETSA. This win meant we climbed off the bottom of the ladder and avoided the wooden spoon.
After a pre-season movement of players into and out of the club the 2024 season got underway without players Kareem Aitken, Sydney Waye and Tyrone Waye, Declan Franks and the Parkinson brothers to name a few. Harley Bodger, Daniel Sumner were recruited together with Sam Maule returning from Whyalla, Craig Shirley from Karratha and Clayton Milera from Lions were amongst the small numbers of recruits the club was able to bring in.
The A Grade finished 5th for the season, just escaping bottom position by defeating arch rival Central Augusta in the last game of the year. The B Grade had an improved year becoming a lot more competitive and they also finished fifth after defeating Central in the last game. It was reward for what has been a challenging year for the senior coaches and staff.
We must thank A Grade Coach Kriston Thompson, B Grade coach Stuart Beaton and U18 coach Marcus Gill on their hard work and dedication in getting their teams on the ground each week. In the 2024 season.
Trent Ritter kicked the most goals in the A Grade with 37 goals. Caleb Ritter & Zech Amos was mentioned in the best players an impressive 14 times during the year, Craig Shirley and Ethan Gade 8 times, Harley Bodger and Zech Amos 7 times and Cam Tiggemann 6 times. We used a total of 81 players in both A Grade and B Grade in 2024 which is very high for the 2 grades. Young names who have had a taste of A Grade senior football to watch out for next season include Joe Clancy, Tom Clancy, Jack Franklin, Ethan Maloney, Nate Munzer, Anthony Truong and Addysan Di Paulo.
Of the 30 players used in A Grade this year it should be noted that 19 of these players or 63% have played less than 50 A Grade games (11 of these less than 20 A Grade games) , 6 players have played 51-100 A Grade games and only 5 players have played over 100 A Grade games which outlines the inexperience within the senior team this year. Only 5 players from the 2020 A Grade Premiership side were still consistently playing in 2024, that is a big turnover in 4 years and a big drain of talented players from the club. Of all the players who played in any of the A Grade 5 Premierships in a row from 2016 to 2020 only 10 are still playing at the club. Despite this the club is still equal with Ports with winning the most A Grade Premierships in the SGL with 13 Premierships. Lets get back up there in 2025.
Highlights for the year included:
·Junior teams winning Premierships including the Under 15’s, 14 Girls and the Under 11 team
·Over 500 members for the club in 2024, the highest membership numbers for many years, many thanks to those who supported the club this year.
·Successful events including the Family Day, Aussie Icon Night and Red and White Ball, plus catering for the Port vs Crows Women’s match.
·A Grade players who played in the SGL game include Aziel Stuart, Jayden Warne, Harley Bodger and Ethan Gade with Kriston Thompson as Coach
·Player Milestones including Paul Glass 100 club games, Craig Shirley 100 club games and 100 A Grade games and Caleb Ritter 150 A Grade games.
·Caleb Ritter made the 2024 SGL Team of the year
·The completion of successful projects including the Indigenous Participation project and Indigenous Round, Past players day including the 1964 and 1994 A Grade Premiership reunion, Past Players day at Glenelg, Respectful Club Environment and Road Safety workshops and over $12,000 raised in grant funding.
·Fundraising events such as the Kennel Club, Racing and Footy Tips, Players Auctions and Augusta Markets BBQ to name a few.
·One hundred and two (102) sponsors for the Senior and Juniors, either business, families or individuals, an excellent level of support for the club and greatly appreciated.
